In other countries, WiMax has been an excellent technology for widely spread areas without another easy route to broadband anything. I think it could do that here, as well. If everyone always waits for the next generation, nothing ever happens. If the arrival of 4G is soon, and if people get off the dime, that would be all right, too. I just want to see some action that will enable us to get on with it. :)

WiMax is already in use in Madison, WI. But after I did some searching and reading, I find very little information about how people like it. At $50 per month it is too expensive in my thinking. I would love to see it grow organically by small start up companies. $20 per month would be a good deal. From dslreports.com it seems that the only major proponent of WiMax is Sprint. The other big wireless companies are looking to a 4th generation product. Seems like everyone is hedging bets now because the entry costs are high. If I could swing it I would love to put up my own tower here in Oak Park, IL.
