This is a stunning display of the worst of the modern world corporate philosophies: “The hell with everybody else, I just care about me!” Yahoo!, which projects a happy-go-lucky image most of the time, would appear to be in big trouble in the ring, in dire need of a corner man that is good with cuts and bandages. Corporate ghouls have no mercy.A Yahoo! owned by Microsoft would likely be a Yahoo! without a soul, brought to you by the same people who have become the masters of spin while simultaneously losing their software innovation mojo. I am not personally a huge fan of Yahoo! or its product line. I just don't like to the the not-so-bad guys getting beat up by the bad guys.
I live in the Valley, Yahoo is about 2 miles from my house. The general feeling is that Yahoo is out of touch with its own shareholders and is just plugging along.
Google is the real bully in town and a Yahoo!/MS marriage, shotgun or otherwise, might be what the Googliath needs to challenge the 70% SE share. Yahoo/MS could claim nearly the other 25-30% and with some hard work rein in Google. We'd all like to see that, I think.
